March 2025 we are super happy to announce that Raquel Portela was awarded a Research Project from the 𝗠𝗣𝗦_𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 to advance 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗴-𝗼𝗻-𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗽 technology for studying bacterial pneumonia. This project will focus on investigating the infection dynamics of 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙮𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙪𝙨 and 𝙇𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙥𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙢𝙤𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙖 using this innovative platform to study infectious diseases. Raquel was also awarded a Staff Exchange Grant to visit Alexander Mosig’s lab at 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝘀𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗸𝘂𝗺 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗮 – 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆, and learn all about organ-on-a-chip!!! Congratulations to Raquel!!!

March 2025 we have Federico Bosetto with us for two weeks! Federico is a Postdoctoral Researcher working with Dr. Ioanna Mela at the University of Cambridge, where he uses DNA nanotechnology to combat antibiotic resistance! November 2024 launch of the II edition of the MicroMundo@Oeiras citizen science project that we are helping organize at ITQB-NOVA! More information here.

November 2024 we are organizing the 2nd edition of the “Fundamentals of light microscopy and image processing” course at ITQB-NOVA! More information here.

September 2024 we are participating in the European Researcher Night 2024!!! We will be there talking about a Citizen Science Project called MicroMundo! Come join us to discover the importance of discovering new antimicrobials and to use the ones we have in the correct way!

August 2024 we organized the 13th edition of the Single Molecule Localization Microscopy symposium and it was a huge success! Thank you to everyone involved!

July 2024 Lab lunch! The IMIB lab and the Pina lab joined forces in tackling all you can eat picanha… this is the before image… no one knows what happened after!

May to September 2024 we are hosting two awesome Erasmus students Alice Michel and Beatriz Dias de Sousa, both came from ESTBB-Biotechnologies School of Engineering!

January 2024 Bernardo Raimundo started his PhD with us!! Welcome Bernardo!!!!!

November 2023, Raquel Portela was was awarded a position in the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus – 6th Edition. Congratulations to Raquel! We are very proud!
